I do parlor tricks with words. Moviegoer, cinephile. Handy on a trivia team. I take my iced tea very sour. UX at TrussWorks. (he/him)

@kubie Two reasons:

I picked mastodon.social back in 2018(!) for no particular reason. Zirk.us caters to arts/pop culture, which is the big thing I miss from Twitter.

And it's going to be easier now, in relatively early days, than later.

(Might it be a mistake? Maybe!)

Think I may switch Mastodon instances. I just set up a zirk.us account and will likely move this one.
@emstjames @jbouie “haven’t thought about it since I watched it” is my main critique of most of the MCU after Endgame
@Andrewhinton pretty good, very different vibe, and the “anonymous strangers connected by technology” is uncannily similar to the internet
@Andrewhinton Demme’s Citizens Band came out a year earlier. The opening credits look very much like something from the same time as Close Encounters — alluring futuristic tech.

@emstjames I have wondered if some of that is just the nature of "early adopters" — because I agree, this place has not yet recaptured that diversity of topics.

Maybe it never will, I dunno, I feel like Reddit is taking up more of that for me.

Here's the mutiny I promised you.

And here's the party it turned into.

@danhon Yeah, that makes sense.

I feel your pain because I know we're in the same (or very similar) market, and my understanding is that even now it's not like buyers are spoilt for choice.

But at the same time, if you're not at least on some level excited about the specific house you're looking it, probably best to pass. Charm and potential can make way for familiar and annoying sooner than you might expect.

@danhon I feel like some of this depends on what you mean by "fixer upper." We bought a house that needs work, but most of it was important but not urgent. "Finishing things" is more or less important depending on when they need to be finished.

So maybe haul out that Eisenhower matrix when considering. Also evaluating your resources to fix.

@karenmcgrane @anildash @pretz Same. But to be fair that’s the kind of attitude you want in a professional collaborator.
