Here's the mutiny I promised you.
And here's the party it turned into.
I think I did not appreciate how good Mastodon is as a chance to completely rebuild the list of who I follow.
No shade intended but there are a few people here I did not miss when they left Twitter, and I feel less awkward just not re-following than I do unfollowing.
Just watched a video where the creator mentioned the Leidenfrost effect, but the captions render it as “light and frost” effect.
TikTik captions are an eggcorn machine.
A friend gave me paid access to the Streaks app on iOS. Of course I immediately started streaks for brushing, flossing, and meditating.
More satisfying are four streaks I added a bit later:
* write a letter one a week (on paper! In the mail!)
* one meatless day a week
* two days a week with no red meat (the meatless day counts here)
* watch one foreign language movie a week (I usually watch 3-4 movies total)
Years without any movie in the Letterboxd Top 250 narrative features:
1932–35
1938
1939(!)
1941
1947
1951
1970
2005
1938 and 2005 have never had a movie in the top 250 in the history of the list.
Citizen Kane is no longer one of the Top 250 Narrative Features on Letterboxd. https://letterboxd.com/dave/list/official-top-250-narrative-feature-films/#comment-16803238…
Interesting to see folks on r/letterboxd debating whether or not that list is a canon (no, IMHO) and more broadly how to balance older art with new enthusiasms.
Curious if people feel more or less upset by this than by Kane slipping to #3 on on the Sight & Sound list.

Letterboxd's Top 250 movies, based on the average weighted rating of all Letterboxd users. I removed all stand-up specials, stage plays, concert films, documentaries, shorts, 'collection listings', re-edits and other 'rarities', so only feature length narrative movies are listed here. Films should have a minimum of 15,000 ratings to be eligible to enter the list. As a sister to this list, we also have a Top 100 films with less than 15,000 ratings, so be sure to check out the more obscure gems there! My friend Jack Moulton made a list of Letterboxd Top 250 documentaries, go check it out!…
