@tess Also, back in late 2022, there wasn't really another option. Bluesky and Threads didn't exist yet, some people went to Tumblr but that's clearly different, and most of the other alternatives were clearly niche or failed to gain a userbase. In the 2 years since, those alternatives have built themselves up, and the fediverse (or at least Mastodon) has remained fairly similar.

@matt Most of that is Windows, by the last Steam survey about 1.4% of Steam users are on Mac (~500k). The Mac hardware is more than capable, but is the game compatibility better than it was a few years ago?

@kib The way it's implemented (as a drop down menu with just two options) makes me think they're gonna add "notification sound packs" as a new thing you can buy

@stevestreza Even when Brazil banned X for a month and that big "Bluesky exodus" happened, the second X became available again daily actives halved within 3 days!

@arch I haven't paid particularly close attention, but Valkey got a major release out that supposedly improves performance while keeping compatibility https://valkey.io/blog/valkey-8-0-0-rc1/

Besides that, Valkey seems actively worked on whereas Redict seems almost untouched in 6 months, only getting one minor bugfix release. But it is supposed to be the "conservative" fork, if it works it works!

Now that X has become available in Brazil again, DAU on Bluesky has dropped from ~1.2 million down to ~700k, a loss of around 40%.
