Cooperator, solidarity forever 🌹, probably wants to be out swing/blues dancing πŸ•Ί, backpacking β›ΊπŸ₯Ύ, climbing πŸ§—, or mountain biking 🚡.

Mostly here for the local timeline! Lives in Cobb, misses Atlanta proper.

The plan is currently to move over at the end of the month. TL;DR The lack of democracy in this instance has just been bugging me (meaning no disrespect to the owners who seem great and do a good job for the most part and I'm sure are trying in good faith). I just think I'd prefer an instance with more community power instead of a BDFL model. Using Lemmy without asking the community first really was a wake up call that the BDFL model is never okay, no matter how much you like the admins.
Hey all: though I'll miss the local timeline here and having a place to post Atlanta specific stuff that might not be of much interest to the community over on my main instance, I'm thinking about closing this account and migrating over to my main fully. If you don't want to be following my more general main instance, you may want to unfollow me here (or @sam once I move it). Just FYI.
@nemobis that's the problem, my small credit union has neither IBAN NIR SWIFT, so I need a new one that can :)
@themadcodger absolutely not, looking for something cooperative :)
@nemobis I guess I'd like to avoid outrageous fees, but it's better than nothing :) I'm hoping to just do a bank-to-bank transfer (how that goes from Euros to Dollars I don't know), I just haven't been able to receive it because my credit union doesn't have an IBAN number and I don't want to get a Wise account or whatever.
Weird super specific ask: does anyone know of a credit union or mutual bank in Atlanta (or web only but based in the US, I suppose) that has an IBAN or SWIFT number so that they can directly receive money from the EU without going through an intermediary bank?
@communiteatime Sunday, early, sadly (just the way the flights/schedule shook out for me)
Woo, planes have free wifi now! (I haven't flown in a *long* time)
Boarding! See you all at PDX!
