The plan is currently to move over at the end of the month. TL;DR The lack of democracy in this instance has just been bugging me (meaning no disrespect to the owners who seem great and do a good job for the most part and I'm sure are trying in good faith). I just think I'd prefer an instance with more community power instead of a BDFL model. Using Lemmy without asking the community first really was a wake up call that the BDFL model is never okay, no matter how much you like the admins.

Weird super specific ask: does anyone know of a credit union or mutual bank in Atlanta (or web only but based in the US, I suppose) that has an IBAN or SWIFT number so that they can directly receive money from the EU without going through an intermediary bank?

More specific ask: I've been looking at commercial real-estate around #Atlanta and there are a lot of old abandoned apartment buildings that are ripe for fixing up. Do I know like 10+ people who would want to cooperatively buy one, fix it up, and live in it? It would be a lot of work, but I think we could do it for a lot cheaper than getting a mortgage on a normal condo if we got enough willing hands to pitch in.

Anyone in #Atlanta want to start a co-op farm, housing organization, land trust, bike shop, or literally any other business you think is missing around here? I'm really sick of not having any real ownership or stake in my job and there are so many problems that could be solved here, but I don't want to do it alone.
