@adamsdesk I always found these imposed directories pre-re-created for me annoying. Thanks for sharing an article how to map them to one's own.

This post is awesome, and I predict aftermarket shops offering to remove car surveillance to spring up in the next few years.

It shouldn't be necessary, but it is.

Removing the Modem and GPS from my 2024 RAV4 Hybrid

Modern cars are computers on wheels that send home nonstop telemetry about you. In this post I remove my 2024 RAV4 Hybrid's modem and GPS to prevent that :)

I needed to replace a notebook webcam with an external unit. The one I had on-hand did not have a privacy cover, nor could I find a simple one on any of the 3d model repositories.

Requirements were minimalist design and functionality. While I found units specifically designed for this Logitech C525, they all featured intricate attachment brackets and required post processing after printing.

Webcam Privacy Cover

@GetCarter if you like cloud time-lapses, below is my webcam at Hollister CA. USA airport. It was setup to help glider pilots reason what the atmosphere is doing. Every 5min the last 3h timelapse video regenerates, see: https://hsc-webcam.saahbs.net/

This weekend was a low pressure, low ceilings VFR, windy and bumpy. Due to maintenance and weather, I couldn’t fly my aircraft for over a month, so I was excited to finally get into the air. Aircraft performed flawlessly, I did 10kt+ crosswind component landings and enjoyed hours in the air!!

To increase situational awareness and safety, I installed ...

@65_percenter @thekerker I don't content that Firefox FINALLY got better in fingerprint protection WHILE still requiring opting-out from telemetry. Also being the beggar, the mozilla foundation continues to connive how to monetize their position to the detriment of their users.

With commercial entities, competing with each other, I prefer having an upfront deal with them and their self interest to keep paying customers paying vs the Mozilla situation.

@65_percenter @thekerker is your argument that a giant project like Firefox can be trusted because they PROMISE to isolate DOM access vs trusting plugin authors to do the same. Trusting Mozilla Foundation, which leeches millions to their parasite board from naive donors, vs trusting commercial entity who need to maintain good reputation to maintain sales. In my world view, the latter is the more honest long term motivator. The fingerprinting race until late 2025 was in Brave's favour, tik-tok.
@root42 pixels and everything, looks cool!
