Donald Trump? Didn't he die in South African prison in the 1980s?

"woman", "man" and other genders are not "essential", but are social/psychological archetypes that most people have a deep need to see themselves fit into and reflected in.

Trans people want to fit into a different archetype than the one that would be traditionally prescribed based on their biology at birth, but that doesn't mean that they accept that there are essential truths about women and men that they should now embody, or expect that being a woman or man actually constitutes more than a small portion of who you are and why you do things.

We have social roles like "mother" or "samurai" that while they might have some link to biology, are almost entirely socially constructed.

Sometimes I feel despair at the state of the internet, but then I read things like this and remember that the weirdos and nerds far outnumber the regular people and we’ll probably be ok. #ancientgreek #philosophy #wikipedia

So apparently a collection of the worst people from the left and right have successfully bullied #Jocat off of the Internet for a 2 year old song about liking girls of every body type.

Everyone who participated in this should feel deep shame and regret for their part in it, and those who don't should be ostracized from society.

But sadly the people who do this shit persist and instead we lose valuable people who are more vulnerable to attack.

People who don't understand the difference between etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can't put into words.

I want you to imagine this for a moment-

What if every time you posted anything relating to christianity, regardless of if it is an offhand mention of a family gathering, a silly Christmas shitpost like a 'Mariah Carey defrosting' meme, or even just saying 'merry Christmas to those who celebrate' day of, you had random people (or at least had to emotionally prepare for the fact there was a very real possibility people would likely) comment things like "wow, really?! you're posting about Christmas right now? when the USA, a majority christian country that has tons of leaders who claim to stand for christian values in their decisions is actively supporting and sending weapons to a country committing genocide? you are truly disgusting!"

Regardless of the fact the post never mentions support for the US governments actions on this or anything else. Regardless of if you have things in your profile or posts directly criticizing this specifically, of if you live in/were from/had ever been to the USA, or any other actually relevant factor to your views on that government action.

And no matter what you replied they would continue to insist your random mention of Christmas inherently implied support for those actions. And more people might join in. And it wouldn't just be about social media or followers- what if you knew countless people like you were being harassed, losing friends, losing social standing and work connections, even being sent death threats over posts with the mere mention of their Christian background in it?

That is something Jews (and Muslims, don't you dare twist this into an excuse for Islamophobia!) experience regularly at the mere mention of our religion, and many of us have our whole lives! I come from a big Jewish family which places a lot of importance on our Jewish heritage and culture, all of whom staunchly support Palestine- and that is in no way contradictory! The vast majority of Jews I have known in my entire life support the Free Palestine movement!

What the Israeli government is doing right now is genocide. The idea all Jews support it and anyone speaking against it is being antisemitic is a purposeful use of misinformation to gain public support (especially by governments and people that really only care about their own financial interests in the war and are therefore actively assisting that genocide), because it is way easier to get away with doing awful things for their own gain if they immediately shut down any and every criticism as being inherently antisemitic and scare others away from being vocal (especially other politicians and powerful groups) with the clear threat of being labeled bigots.

There are countless Jewish organizations, religious leaders, professors of Judaism, and individuals putting forward statements supporting Palestine, reaching out to their governments, and participating in activist movements loudly and openly fighting against the actions of the Israeli government! The people spreading this lie and purposefully erasing that are using care more about taking advantage of the concept of Jewishness and antisemitism as a tool to silence others matters more than respecting our clearly stated beliefs about our own religion! THAT is antisemitic!

Don't buy into this bullshit, and don't attack random Jews for acknowledging their religion in ways that have nothing to do with the Israeli government's actions. Hannukah is in early December this year and I and other Jews should not have to be afraid to mention it for fear of harassment. Don't contribute to it and if you see it- step up and do something! Stand up for them directly, talk to your admins about having rules that support Jews in your online community, and please educate yourself and others (the burden of education should not fall on the Jews who are already dealing with this harassment!).

And for the love of god support the Free Palestine movement! No killing of innocent people is okay, but equating the actions of a terrorist extremist group with an entire demographic is absurd and claiming the creation of and actions of extremists in response to an ongoing genocide somehow justifies the ongoing atrocities of the genocide is absolute bullshit.

I am too tired to give a full list of resources right now but there is a good info to start to understand the harms of the state of Israel and the concept of anti-zionist Jews at https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org/resource/zionism/

-a Jew who is both exhausted and disgusted at all of this

Boosts appreciated! Any and everyone who comes into the comments with any kind of bigotry or 'but what about' bullshit will immediately be blocked and reported. I am not looking for feedback or a debate, I am sharing factual information and a view based on my own religious and moral beliefs. I do not care about your 'well actually' and will not engage with it.

Our Approach to Zionism

JVP is guided by a vision of justice, equality and freedom for all people. We unequivocally oppose Zionism because it is counter to those ideals.

So this may be controversial, but I think that there are civilians in both Israel and Gaza and that Israelis and Palestinians both deserve a safe country to live in.
@idesofmerch now I'm imagining a setting where there's an ancient pact between trans people and immortals, where the immortals secretly take over the trans peoples' old identities after they transition.

Are there people out there who are looking at #LLM/AI-generated content as pollution?

Because that is the analogy that makes the most sense to me. It's creating huge externalities for the profit of a few - proliferating enormous amounts of digital pollution (as well as real-world greenhouse gas pollution).

The more #AI/LLM churn out content for the internet, the dirtier the water, so to speak. Or the air. And the less it functions for users.
