I feel like to many people don't recognise fascism because they think fascism will arrive selling oppression and tyranny, but if you're part of the privileged group fascism is selling you safety, normalcy, and tradition
I guess I need to pick an instance to make my main presence. It probably won't be mastodon.social since it's getting so big. Maybe I'll go back to cozy toot.cat.
“Frankly, I think that if your witchcraft is not political, you are still asleep,” Leonore Tjia, a witch from Montpelier, Vermont, told Denny. “In a culture as racist and patriarchal and transphobic and homophobic and materialistic as ours is, if you don’t see the way witchcraft is radical and revolutionary, you have some waking up to do.”

Heads up, as of this morning at least, Debirdify is still working (https://pruvisto.org/debirdify/) but Fedfinder (https://fedifinder.glitch.me) is returning zero results.

I'm going to keep running both daily against my Twitter account & we'll see what happens. Today there were 2x as many profile links as there were yesterday!

What we have now is a just about a repeat of the late 19th and early 20th century big business model that supported income inequity and oppressed workers.

The demonization of unions is one of the catalysts to the shrinking of the middle class and increase in wage inequality. Unions brought better working conditions, better pay, laws against child labor, and a shorter work week.

Currently, income inequity is a problem once again, unsafe working conditions are reappearing, and corporations have too much power. A rebirth of unions is a way to give workers power against this treatment and yes, provide some much needed unity.

We must remember that rights aren't granted but are won, through organization, participation and action. This lesson is particularly important today, when rights are being taken away. #Unions #LaborDay

Opinion Unions are on a roll. And they unite a divided nation:

Teachers in Ontario want to strike?

What should we do?

Pay them more money because their role is essential to society?

Nah, let's fine them $4,000 CAD per day they strike. That'll get them and there won't be any push-back what-so-ever.

Canadian province passes bill fining education workers $4,000 for each day they strike | Semafor

The bill, passed by Ontario's conservative government led by Doug Ford, bans education workers from striking.

Jack Dorsey apologized for *checks notes* “growing Twitter too quickly.” Man I truly can’t stand these dudes.

If you think you're building The Future

And the team that you have assembled to do so

Is less diverse than even the bridge of the USS Enterprise as depicted on Star Trek in 1966

The future you're building is not the one that I want any part of

I'm still baffled that 'local-only' posts didn't make it into mainline mastodon. It's SUCH a good feature, and makes instance choice more meaningful and actually start acting like community.
