Instead of storing my data in the cloud, I just store it in the bush. It's the same thing, only palette-swapped. More accessible, too.

@guayabito thank you!
@FediverseSymbol sure. It's been released like a year ago ;)

Why is there no VF interpolation previewer for Glyphs?

I guess there is now. Needs vanilla+fonttools.

💡CSS Tip!

Do you know that text-indent can take an extra value "each-line"? It allows you to have an indentation after each line! Useful if you rely on "<br>" to add new lines.

⚠️ It has limited support. Only Firefox and Safari for now⚠️

@ckape those quierky little assembler coders ...
@ckape this makes so much more sense.

@ckape aren't you worried this will devalue your information though

a file in the cloud is worth two in the bush they say

@ckape brb renaming my NAS to “bush”
@filmroellchen makes sense: cloud = far away, bush = in your home

@Cryptomon @filmroellchen

Also if your NAS is running Linux you can bash your bush.

@filmroellchen Thanks for the laughs I love it 🤣
@filmroellchen @ckape that's exactly what I thought. Will do that as well 😎 But in German "gebuesch"...
@ckape as the old saying goes, a lakitu in the cloud is worth two in the bush
@ckape a datum in the hand is worth two in the bush
You know any animal that wanders by can pee all over your data that way, right? It's just not safe. When it's up in the cloud, only birds can pee on it, so there's a lot less risk.
@Alex @ckape easily solved by a pee-proof storage device
imagine diapering your hard drive
@Alex @ckape much easier than diapering every single animal that might encounter it
@Alex @ckape
Doesn't every storage unit have at least one 'I Pee' address?
@Alex @ckape but thunderstorms and airplanes. I'd rather have pee.
@ckape i store mine in the hand, it's twice as dense
@ckape it's been almost forty years and never noticed this. Wow. Just. Wow.
@ckape oh, and how they did the compression, with three small clouds / bushes into one big one is neat, too. I had to think for some seconds how they did it, how they could get rid of the black lines inside. But then I had my "Ah!" moment.

@ckape Well, you know what they say: a bit in the bush is worth two in the cloud.

...or something like that.

@ckape but whose bush is big enough to store all that data? 🤔
@ckape maybe if you create a giant merkin...
@TuffyPuff @ckape Came for the comments. Was not disappointed.
@ckape this is what human ingenuity looks like and I will not hear the fool who says otherwise
@ckape remember to keep versioned backups. That’s the true meaning of “one in the hand, two in the bush.”
@ckape As an Australian I can confirm that storing data in the bush is pretty good. Don't have to worry about it precipitating but sometimes the roos take a nibble or two.
@ckape
That is green IT!
@ckape My husband does big data shit for NASA. I'll pass this along.
@ckape A horse of a different color, so to speak.
@ckape There is no cloud. Just other people's virtual machines rented at questionable conditions.
@ckape reminds me when I was young, learning to code on C64...
@ckape And it's green, so it must be eco-friendly.
@ckape the big cloud on the right also looks like three copies of the cloud on the left woven together.

@ckape the only bush I trust is my own
@ckape clever devs! I wonder how much memory this saved.
@ckape A byte in the cloud is worth two in the bush?
@ckape Maybe thats the term to use for non-US-based cloud providers.

@ckape

Actually you store it on some rich guy's conputer.

@ckape and if you're a woman, you can keep your data close to you, and "self-hosting" takes on a whole new meaning.
@ckape Bush computing is about to become huge.
@ckape A gig in the clouds is worth two in the bush
@ckape heh, reminds me of good old "bush hid the facts" on Notepad ;)

@ckape

WE WANT...A SHRUBBERY!

@ckape Good idea, it's important for electrical equipment to be grounded.
@ckape A byte in the cloud is worth 256 in the bush.
@ckape transfer speeds are also a lot higher, as you don't have to fight gravity while uploading.
@ckape same here, I invested in my own fileserver and have space enough for lifetime. Some cloud and subscription based services are overrated
