Hi everyone! I'm rootrambler, a #landscape designer, #writer and #maker

I'm interested in the history of collective land use, farming, hunting and gathering, and foraging. Interested in dye, fiber, and food plants. Also a garment sewer. Hoping to use this platform to share what I'm reading/learning/making!

I also do #hiking #backpacking #contradance and garment #sewing

All major AI companies have leaned heavily into anthropomorphization. I think there are broader downsides to this approach, but I also find it personally annoying. When I’m using an LLM, I don’t want to think of it as a person with feelings and preferences or as a friend. I want to think of it as a tool I can use to accomplish a goal.

@jwisser I also like the "ecotank" printers (like Ronnie's). I just got a GIANT Canon (24" for office) with ink bottles and it was a breeze to set up and is working great so far. Even better, I bought aftermarket ink online and syringed them into the OEM bottles. Will save a ton of money over the life of the printer.
There are many things I like about landscape design. Working with clients is often just fine and frequently the bane of my existence. If I could never work with a client again, I would be very happy. Does *anyone* like project management? Ugh. ETA: setting a goal of 'never having to work w clients again' Is an amazing thought and may be the motivator I need to figure out alternative revenue streams

The fridge that runs without electricity! Mitticool, made of terracotta, cools using ancient evaporative cooling, just add water. Invented by Mansukhbhai Prajapati post-2001 quake, it’s eco-friendly, off-grid, and keeps food fresh for days. Low-tech meets timeless wisdom. 🌍💧

For a while now, whenever I read or watch news pieces and pundit discussions about “the economy” I always think of this…
@naturesketchbook I love it! It reminds me of some of the metroparks in central Ohio where I grew up. I really love the grass texture in the front
There's nothing like firing a bad client and denying her request for plans in an "editable format" first thing on Monday morning! ("As per the contract, I have supplied a scaled PDF that contains all measurements"). Like how does she think she's going to edit a document made in AutoCAD/Indesign without those programs?? Mysteries abound...
@jwisser I would watch this!
