Hi everyone! I'm rootrambler, a #landscape designer, #writer and #maker

I'm interested in the history of collective land use, farming, hunting and gathering, and foraging. Interested in dye, fiber, and food plants. Also a garment sewer. Hoping to use this platform to share what I'm reading/learning/making!

I also do #hiking #backpacking #contradance and garment #sewing

Imagine a world where we don't feel guilty about not getting enough done, or about 'spending' or 'wasting' our time. Imagine a world where it is inconceivable to buy anyone else's time. Imagine a world where working in an episodic or irregular fashion isn't a moral failing. This world existed, and not so very long ago!

I didn't realize we lived in a world where collaborating with orcas was a possibility. Apparently we do! It gives me hope for the future- if we were once able to set up these complex, braided interactions, perhaps we can do it again?

Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe is a wonderful book about Aboriginal Australia and the birth of agriculture. The book doesn't seem well known outside of Australia, but it really should be.
