Almost 50 cities in France have already done away with paid tickets... "Nearly three million people in France can now use urban public transport without paying a fare. That number is likely to grow after the municipal elections... given the proliferation of proposals to make urban transport at least partially free."

I recently watched Jack Thorne's adaption of Lord on the Files on the beeb, with my two sons. It was very interesting to see how particulalry the older at 12 responded to the different characters and behaviours.

I don't fully agree with the conclusions of this article in from the Guardian which criticises diverse casting, because in my view the beauties of interpretations of a text leave room for many variants. Nevertheless its an interesting take and worth reading.

London is one of the safest, friendliest, most vibrant cities on the planet.

Don’t let anyone sell you the fantasy that it’s anything else. Don’t feed the misinformation machine, and don’t let trolls cash in on their own horror fiction.

Thanks to @daycoder for this wonderful video link

Car drivers: Cyclists need to get off the road, you're slowing us down.

Cyclists: Pedestrians need to get off the path, you're slowing us down.

Power walkers: Old people need to get off the footpath, you're slowing us down.

Old people: It's our footpath, you need to get off. Young people are too lazy to use the footpaths, back in my day...

Young people: I'll never afford a footpath, I'm going to walk online.

Government: You're banned.

You don't have to watch the news today.

Stop saying that the link between autism and vaccines is "unproven". It is discredited. It is disproven. Disproven and unproven are not the same thing.

Its really disappointing to see the discussion around the UKs proposed ban on social media for under 16s largely ignoring the addictive nature of social media generally for the whole population. Its another example of the fatalistic acceptance of big techs "its our profit model so we will do anything to avoid changing" narrative.

Here's a little advanced computer tip for you all on a Friday, definitely not based on recent personal experience.

If you have plugged in a cable, and it does not work, ensure that the end of the cable that you have plugged in is part of the same cable as the other end of the cable. This can really make a difference.

Yours bemusedly,

Neil
