She/her pronouns. Comic relief, moral support, occasionally tells the packets where to go. Grumpy old queer married person in eastern Massachusetts. Generally wandering around feeling like I'm secretly a cartoon of three raccoons in a trenchcoat trying to pass.
"This is, I suppose, some kind of audio-vibratory physio-molecular transport device?"

Here’s an online quiz you can take which is said to determine how good you are at detecting disinformation: https://yourmist.streamlit.app

And here is the academic study that came out of the research behind it: https://today.yougov.com/politics/articles/45855-americans-distinguish-real-fake-news-headline-poll

I think that academic study is fascinating and super-useful, but take the test first. The server is slow but usable.

@coolandnormal I used to work in the construction trades, and I explain that some great things about office work are 1. air conditioning in the summer, 2. heat in the winter, and 3. indoor plumbing ALL YEAR ROUND. (Not even getting into "If I have ankle surgery, I can still work if I'm on crutches" and things like that)
@annathepiper Fuuuuuck.
@mycrowgirl @lety and the entire concept evokes a vague ickiness?
@nazgul Hopefully all in favor...
@stripey There’s a radio club resident at AA now, too.
@stripey I am just dipping my toe into POTA and FT8/wsjt-x but haven’t successfully activated a park yet. (Been getting antenna and rig working).
Fuck yeah, Bellingham, WA - city is discussing becoming a sanctuary city for trans folks. https://www.thefrontonline.com/article/2025/04/trans-sanctuary
Bellingham officials weigh proposal to declare city transgender sanctuary status

As the main chamber of Bellingham City Hall quickly reached capacity at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, security guided the overflow of attendees to view the meeting via livestream in the mayor’s boardroom. In both the chamber and the boardroom, transgender community members and allies — dressed in funeral attire — showed up en masse, imploring the city council to pass a resolution declaring Bellingham a transgender sanctuary city.

@tomgauld.bsky.social petition to have all scientific papers be written in either passive-aggressive or conspiracy voice from now on 😂
@misjavanlaatum @tomgauld.bsky.social
After the third round of reviewer edits, believe me the voice becomes plenty passive-aggressive.

YouTube voice:

Whatcha gonna wanna do is,
your gonna wanna go ahead and, like, collect, like samples,
then,
whatcha gonna wanna do is, like,
your gonna wanna go ahead and, like, go ahead and test the samples

@tomgauld.bsky.social Now I'm going to write everything in haiku style

A cartoon was prepared for scientists to peruse. The methodology was made using sampling of methods used by scientists craving recognition.

It was recognized that the passive voice, de rigueur for most journals, no longer suffices to obfuscate voluminous self-esteem of experts in scientific autoaggrandizement. A Conspiracy Voice was for the first time identified. Anonymous reviewers use it to devastate those receiving more approbation than the reviewer.

Lo, the results of our research are in. Heed ye the abstract. Dismiss not the call to action stated implicitly in the conclusion.
@tomgauld.bsky.social Boffins say: spectacular samples gathered. No testing needed. Evidence is clear.
@tomgauld.bsky.social great, but I think you forgot to put quotation marks around the word "scientists" in the "conspiracy voice" one
