Earliest evidence of humans in the Americas confirmed in new U of A study

A new paper by a University of Arizona geoarchaeologist agrees with findings from four years ago that footprints discovered in New Mexico are between 21,000 and 23,000 years old – as much as 10,000 years older than the previously known oldest signs of human culture in the Americas.

Fun fact: If you see someone at a nerd event wearing a vim-themed shirt, it's because they put it on in 2003 and couldn't figure out how to take it off

Gilead has announced that lenacapavir, the game-changing HIV prevention drug just approved by the FDA will cost $28,218 USD per person per year.

Researchers say a generic version could be made for just $25 per person a year.

Capitalism kills.

Wow. Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly shot that prevents HIV spread was just approved by the FDA.

The problem? Due to government cuts to Medicaid, PEPFAR, and Global Fund, it's unlikely this game-changing drug will reach the many people who need it most in the US and globally.

The local Spanish language Facebook group normally has social stuff, and people selling tortillas and pan dulce and such.
Now it's full of ICE sightings.
And sadly, the pan dulce postings have had to take that into account.
My very, very first impression of Skrmetti is that it is as horrible as people are saying, and yet, it is a more limited horror: It does not overturn bostock, it doesn't overturn rulings saying trans discrimination = sex discrimination. Bathroom, sports, passport ruling are good under this.
What BS logic from the Supreme Court. Trans care bans don't discriminate on transgender status. Rather, its GENDER DYSPHORIA that they target. Not too many gender dysphoric cisgender people.

❝ more than 317,704 preventable deaths — 103 deaths per hour — have already occurred from tuberculosis, malaria, HIV and other diseases since the U.S. halt in funding, deaths that would not have occurred had the funding continued. Such evidence indicates the Trump administration’s decisions have put millions of lives in peril. ❞
