@beecycling @mathaetaes @anon_opin More like the telephone sanitisers from the Golgaphrinchan B ark.
@anon_opin Ran by mice no less. A lot more energy efficient though.
@mansr @anon_opin ‘Go Stick Your Head in a Pig’ could be the slogan for all the US techbros.
@anon_opin Adams' Sirius Cybernetics Corporation is a pretty good representation of all things "smart" too.
People like to think Asimov predicted the current technology known as "artificial intelligence". They are wrong. It was Douglas Adams when a computer spent untold resources just to return an answer which is both irrelevant and poses further questions.
@david_chisnall And Windows 10 is still everywhere with IT now in a panic yet again to get all machines converted over (the same happened with windows XP about six years ago). Lots of IT systems just don’t talk to each other, or crash after upgrades.
@david_chisnall Was this related to OsiriX? About the same time, I was doing my PhD in computer science, and I was doing some work in volume rendering, too. In the lab, we passed around the CT scan of one of the professor's knee to test stuff with. I had a lot of fun in OsiriX looking at it.

@david_chisnall

Had an echocardiogram two weeks ago. It took 40 minutes and was very impressed by the interactive 2 and 3d visualization capabilities of software. The person operating the device was even more impressive. She explained every measurement she took as she manipulated the probe/software. I could see the screen. Early in the process I started laughing as I was holding my breath. I told her I laughed because her explanations gave me joy … so she explained more!

@david_chisnall I wonder whether they feed the AI scan analysers the raw voxel data, the same formatted as slices or something they've already done the isosurfacing on.
(When I was doing my PhD a friend was doing confocal laser microscopy and bought back wonderful voxel arrays of pollen grains)
@david_chisnall Digitized medical records -- so they can get hacked, leaked, shared far and wide, including with government and on the dark web -- uh, no thanks! I'd pay extra to have all paper-only records.
