@parkerortolani That’s too bad I won’t be able to see your tech posts since having 3 social media accounts is not something I’d want to do. I cancelled Ivory a week ago and left X a few months back.
@stroughtonsmith Apple has never been about gaming, and I don’t think ever will. I personally don’t mind because games don’t add any value to my life.
@nathansnelgrove That’s true. I think I’ll just continue till the end of the year to see how it all goes.
@nathansnelgrove I’m going to head off. It feels kind of like Linux. Our usernames are weird, I don’t get how to search for topics I’m interested, and there is no algorithm to share content I post here so it’s like writing to a wall. I tried it for several months, but it’s only for tech geeks.
@stroughtonsmith I’m curious about this as well. I assumed a long time ago they learned that real world metaphors often don’t translate to effective UI interfaces. Thinking that people will store certain apps in certain places in their physical space is not the answer. So I’m curious what the multitasking UI for Vision OS will eventually look like. Maybe it’s something they are holding back for a later release.
@stroughtonsmith I’m curious if SwiftUI was explicitly designed for VisionOS considering both projects may have been brewing around the same time.
@stroughtonsmith That’s interesting to know. Look forward to what else you dig up. I’ve been really curious how window managment would work in VisionOS. I guess they really don’t need it in Version 1.0 - but eventually it’s got to have an elegant way to have dozens of app windows open at the same time.
@stroughtonsmith Real world metaphors have already been tried by the likes of General Magic, Microsoft Bob, and others. Ultimately, the UI needs to be efficient and not a metaphor to how things are done in the real world. Leaving apps in different physical spaces is not going to work for those wanting to use this to get things done.
@stroughtonsmith I’m guessing stage manager was designed for, and will ultimately be implemented in VisionOS.
@matt I don’t disagree with you. I just think with a few software enhancements, and more interesting hardware, the iPad could easily overtake the mac as the preferred computer - just probably not for programmers or those who were brought up with the Mac. I’d bet we’re just a few years away but i’m probably in the minority with that opinion as well.
