Meta’s decision to shut down CrowdTangle, an analytics tool that was an “invaluable” resource to the research community in tracking disinformation, has been widely criticized — particularly considering the elections taking place globally in 2024.

Now, just days after Meta officially discontinued the tool, the EU has questions about how the company intends to meet its “obligations” under the Digital Services Act (DSA) to allow outside researchers access to its data. Meta has until 6 September to reply. Here’s more from @engadget.

I genuinely would like to understand why MSFT/GOOG investing billions into AI firms in the form of cloud credits isn't just flat out earnings manipulation. It's literally their existing money that they're claiming as revenue a second time! That seems bad and a thing that shouldn't be legal?
