I find this to be a fascinating window into American values and justice system.

The reliable New York Times normalizes extremism, as always, with the Kash Patel nomination. This headline does not even begin to hint at his often-stated eagerness to be a fascist apparatchik.

The Times' indifference to dictatorship is disgusting.

@TCatInReality @ChrisMayLA6 It's true, that it's surprising. However, as an AI researcher, I'm slowly beginning to learn how naive I've been about my community

I thought they were all basically scientists raised on Star Trek. So how bad could it be? Then they all went to work for Google, OpenAI and FB. Then OpenAI went private and they all kept working there. Then Musk took over X and they all stayed there. Then X put Trump on the throne and they're all still there, some of them applauding.

@tantramar A kid today is more likely to write an app in their life than a book. And the reality is that, by *default*, apps can and *should* of course last longer than books which literally decay. It is actually strange that apps have dramatically shorter lifespans than books. This situation is *artificial*. But you are clearly aware of this, since we are right now arguing about precisely that: how Apple creates this situation by actively stopping emulators that would otherwise exist. (4/x)

Black parents have historically been divided from our children by #enslavement, the modern #carceral system, + #capitalist work demands. I'm committed to being present with my #baby while maintaining my #activism and #radical tech projects. That means #crowdfunding support!

Support a Black Protester Assaulted while Defending Housing Rights

As inflation, price gouging, and skyrocketing home prices have affected the nation, the city of Seattle has become increasingly hostile to low-income and middle-class populations. Meanwhile, the City Council has been actively suppressing affordable housing measures—and, at the same time, pushing bills to criminalize the presence of unhoused people and sex workers in large swaths of the city. Black residents make up just 8% of Seattle, yet 25% of homeless individuals in the city are African-American.

"Trump has reportedly not turned in a required ethics pledge that explains how he’ll navigate personal conflicts of interest."

"The Post reports that the president-elect has also declined to use the State Department’s secure telephone lines and interpreters, and has eschewed the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s security clearance system."

Donald Trump’s Transition Team Skips Ethics Pledges and FBI Background Checks

The president-elect is giving the Biden administration the middle finger by making the changeover as difficult as humanly possible.

We can all stop having imposter syndrome now. Apparently each of us is qualified to be Secretary of anything.
I will never get over the idea that an old memo at the Department of Justice is what allowed Trump to get away with insurrection and stealing top secret documents. Not a law. Not a trial. A goddamn memo. It's really the stupidest, most bureaucratic way for the country to die.
