Thank you for your patience. After observing the first 24 hours of Threads, we decided to block threads.net (in advance of them at some point joining the Fediverse). There are openly, aggressively transphobic accounts on Threads.net with no visible attempt at moderation. We would defederate from any other Fediverse instance with that behaviour and no moderation, and there is no reason to treat threads.net any different.

When I started on Mastodon, people would advise me to “only Boost posts.” Since there’s no algorithm that places a value on Favorites, “only Boosts have value.”
I disagree completely.
When people Favorite my posts, they unwittingly introduce themselves to me. I have discovered some very interesting people that I may not have if they didn’t Favorite my posts.

Sooo, #Threads is going to someday federate just like Tumblr will someday federate just like Post will someday federate?
I will believe it when I see it. My gut says Threads, on its own will be such a massive success. Right time, right place, most importantly right network. Any incentive to federate will be far outweighed by the ability to make lots of money. Federation will forever be in the backlog.
