West Bengal ASHA Update
The reason for the Swasthya Bhavan drive on Tuesday, January 7, was to meet with health officials to find a solution and to demand their due rights. But the first and main demand – that the minimum wage of Rs 15,000 be paid to ASHA workers as set by the state government – remained unresolved. A final decision on this issue will be announced on January 21.

Video of a physician trying to give medical care to the woman shot and killed by ICE agents today, and not being allowed to go near her.
The ICE agents claim there are medics on site, but witnesses scream that there are no medics present.

TIL that after the Malayan Communist Party lost the guerilla war, a bunch of them decamped to Hunan, China, from which they broadcast revolutionary radio ‘Suara Revolusi Malaya’ (voice of the Malayan revolution).
They did so until the 80s, when China ‘opened up’ and Lee Kuan Yew requested that Deng shut down that station. Shortly after, they stopped broadcasting.
