Mastodon defederated from all cryptobros is actually Web4, which is one better. Sorry, math is math. Enjoy your antiquated tech.
This post is good. Read it, especially if you're just joining Mastodon from Twitter https://www.hughrundle.net/home-invasion/
Home invasion - Mastodon's Eternal September begins

The fediverse is dealing with a huge wave of Twitter people bringing toxic ideas with them.

The new "bluechecks will fix everything" system over on the other site seems to have, maybe, a few bugs that a competent trust & safety team might have been useful in working through...

Is the fediverse about to get Fryed? (Or, “Why every toot is also a potential denial of service attack”)

Every time I post something that gets lots of engagement, I essentially end up carrying out a denial of service attack on myself. What does this say about the design of Mastodon and ActivityPub and the future of the fediverse?

@IntlLawGnome @KlasfeldReports In the upper right corner of each post in the timeline there is an icon showing visibility. Your replies to your thread are properly showing as "unlisted".

For your followers, their home feed has a setting for "Show replies". If this is enabled, they will still see the unlisted replies in their feed. It appears to be enabled by default, but they can turn this off.

@maxkennerly I'm a newbie, but I have seen others describe #CW as a "content wrapper" rather than a "content warning". This makes a lot of sense to me - makes it easy to scroll past stuff that I'm not interested in. For example, as a #Canadian, I have only a high-level interest in American politics and don't necessarily want to see every #midterm #election update.

I was skeptical about the prevalence of CWs (content warnings) here. Tonight my partner described them as Content Wrappers, and it clicked. @adamdavidson called them Titles. And @anildash talked about consent as core to mastodon.

I am starting to like the idea a lot.

You scroll and tap what you want to read. You OPT IN. It’s also a great tool against doomscrolling! Something that would NEVER be implemented/encouraged by a regular social media company
