Keeping it simple for stupid, the #NonSequitur way...
I got a bit of emailed propaganda from the Social Security Administration. It celebrated today’s passage of BBB and its reduction of taxes on social security benefits. The assumption being that my little heart would be warmed by the news.
I am over 65, but fully employed, so I’m not collecting SSI yet. But let me be clear, I did not want a tax cut. I want funded Medicaid. I want school lunches. I want a good non-private VA.
And I resent the assumption that if I don’t benefit, I’m agin it.
I am always disappointed to find the the idea of a universal liberal arts education remains a deeply radical idea. But if you think about what it can do, it’s not that shocking there is resistance. I don’t care if you drive a cab or do farm work or if you test rocket ships you should know a little history, science, math and about arts and culture— enough to have your own opinions in order to just… enjoy life. IDK.

People act like it's a big mystery but it's not?
1. Better educated teachers.
2. More experienced teachers. (as in a ratio to new teachers)
3. Limit class size to 20 students aim for an average of 14.
4. Equip schools with sufficient materials eg: buildings that are safe and functional, internet that works, computers for students, you know the materials.
Most "education innovations" are trying to skip this stuff and use something else instead to save money.
The New York Times today if it was December 7, 1941.
"The US base at Pearl Harbor hosting navy ships reports several stopped floating Sunday morning."
