Eduard Tubin (1905-1982), Estonian composer and conductor. I took this image because tomorrow is Estonian Independence Day (24.2.1918). The Soviet occupation of Estonia ended in August 1991, and the last Russian troops left the country on 31 August 1994.

@froomkin.bsky.social most certainly do not plan to “celebrate” the 250th when it is slipping away. I see it as an excellent date instead for Americans to instead rise up and say, no. Not on my watch. We can celebrate again when we return to a nation of laws we should better uphold, and there is no risk to our democracy, imperfect as it is, given justice and opportunity were not equal before. #IndependenceDay #USPol
