Interpretation of quantum mechanics: If we compare the recent survey
from Nature (https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-02342-y) with a
paper from 2016 with a slighlty minor sample size (https://arxiv.org/pdf/1612.00676) we can point out some things (taking
into account not all the options are the same in both surveys):
- Copenhagen remains constant and leader (or it has a slight decrease, perhaps inside the sample error).
- Increase for information theoretic approaches, Bohm-de Broglie and
many worlds.
- But the most important point IMO is that the increment in these
options comes from the fact that from 2016 to 2025, the percentage of
physicists who say "I have no preferred interpretation" goes down from
36 % in 2016 to 8 % in 2025 (the sum of "None/unknown" plus "no need for
interpretation"). So, in other words, it seems that the "shut-up and
calculate" is in a clear descendent trend (which I think is good). #physics
