I didn't understand Fedilabs vision for Holos when the Holos project was first announced.

Following development it's been cool coming to understand Holos vision and values.

Holos is a really compelling personal space in the Fediverse with so many original, super useful features.

#Holos 1.0.0 is available! With this release, Holos moves from release candidate to production. This version adds a reverse timeline option to display posts oldest-first.

A lot of improvements have also been made to the relay, especially around Bloom filter performance, that are not always reflected in app changelogs.

FBI director Kash Patel confirms the FBI is buying location data and histories that can be used for tracking people. It's the first time in recent years that the FBI has said it's actively buying this information, without needing a warrant.

I agree with this sentiment 💯. Tech is so much of the infrastructure of modern life. I believe insisting on tech that works in our best interest is necessary - the status quo hasn't caught up with the problems, harms, and subsequent solutions you've identified - Big tech surveillance capitalism enables and entrenches inequality, authoritarianism, and fascism.

I'm also baffled that Indivisible, DSA, DIEM, etc. don't see FOSS/fedi is an obviously aligned expression of egalitarian values these orgs embrace in other aspects of culture and our relationships to each other.
