The worst thing about progressives ignoring problems with Big Tech, not even trying alternatives, is that eventually, when the fascists have ripped the last of our freedoms from us and we're left with no rights at all, those scabs still won't see that they could have made a difference.

I agree with this sentiment đź’Ż. Tech is so much of the infrastructure of modern life. I believe insisting on tech that works in our best interest is necessary - the status quo hasn't caught up with the problems, harms, and subsequent solutions you've identified - Big tech surveillance capitalism enables and entrenches inequality, authoritarianism, and fascism.
I'm also baffled that Indivisible, DSA, DIEM, etc. don't see FOSS/fedi is an obviously aligned expression of egalitarian values these orgs embrace in other aspects of culture and our relationships to each other.
