@architect
Mate. Noooooh.
My legs went funny as I read that :)
Yuk.
A: Dentists are in the same industry as Hairdressers and Nail Technicians.
Thats where they make their folding stuff so thats the market they serve

There should be emergency dentists in most areas (even in a back water like South Australia).
$$$$$$ is all it will take.

Medical stuff ? See your GP :) (who will refer you to a Dentist)

Interesting genuine abstract and links to the paper.
With this little note sleeping at the last:
... """ very efficient full key recovery for RSA-1024. We also provide strong evidence
that the same attack works for RSA-2048 with only moderately more computation."""

Thought attribute=notmuch:
So this is arguably an Von Neumann (bottle neck) "thing" AND an x86 feature.
Though that's like saying water is wet .
Lot more fun here:
https://eprint.iacr.org/curr/

#RSA """a complete break of RSA-1024 as implemented in Libgcrypt.""

Cuss those Boffins :)
Excellent work though.
Cough. Do note the VM paragraph and the L3 caveat.
Predators have traditionally gathered near water holes , and other choke points.

Deb based systems: patches are already out.

@wheeler

rkhunter is still a good tool.
Especially on a per host / small networks setups.
It is also notable that old attacks don't go away they just get sold to more kiddies.
And by kiddies I mean nation states :)

Vuu-do
GNU/Linux project, using Devuan as a base.
This is a minimal setup, a base to build on with the programs/packages of your choice.
There is an Openbox and a Mate version.
All images are hybrid-isos (live-CD/USB), so you can test-drive prior to installing.
NB. This project has been localized for English and UTF-8.

... all the infrastructure and utilities needed for a base system.
...cushy for Openbox, makes it easy for even a new linux user.

@bob
AFAIK ntp.conf still supports server
and the pool thing has been about for a while.
eg.

# You do need to talk to an NTP server ...
#LAN server
server ntp.tux
# pool.ntp.org maps to about 1000 low-stratum NTP servers. Your server will
# pick a different set every time it starts up. Please consider joining the

pool 0.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst
pool 1.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst

<snipped>
Works fine though this is devuan
also have a deb lappy

@raingloom
When your initially learning _anything_ your head is busy with new ideas associations and structures.
Years later you will go ... ding ! and then later again as you see more associations ding !

Meantime an understanding of core concepts gives you a sea anchor
when your in the world of having to eat and pay bills and write [insert this weeks trend] in bad and broken ways ...

Also dont smoke and be nice to ya mother !

@raingloom
Thinking is not encouraged in applied subjects !
Just do what they say in maths, especially at EXAM time. ;>
ALSO loudly *question and ask* , thats what the teachers there for !
There is usually a sound concept or assumption at work some place deeper down.
Ask to see that exposed and illuminated.
Meanwhile Do the set theory in haskell or erlang .
I like Set Theory but have no deep training..
I tripped over it while learning about Erlang.
did you know that liking jazz correlates with high levels of psychoticism
