Good morning. The sun is shining and I got blue sky! Not the one one needs an invite for, don't worry.

Anyway, I feel like pointing out another flaw in the ActivityPub Specification, there are parts that are not abstract enough, e.g. explicitly telling us to use HTTP for communication, and there are parts that are too abstract, e.g. not explaining what an ActivityPub Server or an ActivityPub Client is. I've just searched and this is the only hit for 'ActivityPub server'. This makes me smile a lot.

Now the question: Is Mastodon an ActivityPub Server? Or is Mastodon an ActivityPub Server/Client combination that implements the entire specification?

Answer: You cannot decide. In order to answer the question, you need to formulate your guess what the words mean first. Depending on your meaning, the answers are yes or no.

ActivityPub

The ActivityPub protocol is a decentralized social networking protocol based upon the [ActivityStreams] 2.0 data format. It provides a client to server API for creating, updating and deleting content, as well as a federated server to server API for delivering notifications and content.

at this point, the problem isn't even landlords anymore, but investment funds buying up all property and putting it on airbnb

At last, we present a full audio version of "The Forest In The City," covering two years of forest defense in Atlanta, Georgia.

https://crimethinc.com/exworker96

The government of Atlanta is attempting to destroy the Weelaunee Forest in order to build a vast training compound known as Cop City where police will train to suppress social movements. Because Cop City represents a tremendous financial incentive for police and their allies, they have begun to charge everyone who protests against it with domestic terrorism, a clear move towards outright fascism.

Listen here to hear how courageous activists have blocked the construction of the training compound for two years.

Andrew McCarthy captured the ISS in front of the moon and this resulted in a very inspiring photograph!

The moon is around 1000 times farther away from earth than the ISS, but still the ISS looks tiny despite being over 100m long. In this shot the ratios may be different, because the telescope does not look straight up, but at an angle. So the distance from the telescope to the ISS is probably far more than just 400km. But putting the moon a few hundred km further back, would not affect its size so much. (Think of the dolly zoom effect.)

As the sizes of the moon, the ISS and the orbits are known, it should be possible to calculate the distance between telescope and ISS. Maybe you could calculate the location of the telescope as well.

Been a busy week #coding on my #fediverse client. I finally have my #python #framework (#Jenkwerx) doing exactly what it's supposed to so I've been preparing to follow my first user - me on #Mastodon!

..but I pushed pause because, while my inbox is rocking, I don't have my #ActivityPub outbox set up to process from a queue yet (it's still sending live). 😞 So back to unsexy "proper #code logic" for a bit..

..still confident I'll be following a few folks by Sunday tho - ugly test attached! 😆
