Notes to the folks who are scared that Trump's trial(s) will lead to violence by the white supremacists:

The white supremacists want you to be scared, and the white supremacists have already been violent on Trump's behalf.

Fuck the white supremacists. Fuck being scared.

Hey creative people. When you write a post about your work on social media, no need to put in a disclaimer like "shameless self promotion" or to lead with an apology.

1) You made a thing. That's amazing!
2) You're allowed to tell other people about the thing you made.
3) You're even allowed to say it's for sale.

You're not forcing your message on anyone - especially not here, where there's no algorithm - and you're not manipulating anyone, or lying to anyone, or spamming anyone.

You made a thing, it's available for sale. No need for apologies or guilt about letting us know.

@Eamon1916 Damn, not that Rob. Stuff seen at Lowes would so awesome. OTOH, this is pretty funny :)
I’ll also offer up that I really liked AppleTv’s Foundation. It’s been over 30 years since I read the books, so I can’t give a read on that, but I really like it the TV series.
@mcc You may have observed that google prefers to not hear from its users.

seeing some new faces here! welcome. here are the ground rules:
- there are none. there is no ā€œusing it wrongā€.
- use content warnings however you want (or not at all)
- ignore tone policing. it can get a bit much, so…
- …if someone gives you the ick, block ā€˜em.

our time is short and valuable — there’s no point in spending some of it letting some dude hound you in replies for not calling Twitter ā€œthe bird siteā€. that guy sucks.

enjoy your stay besties ā˜ŗļøāœŒļøāœØ

*I know that many others were baffled or repelled, but personally, I've always appreciated the plain-speaking clarity of this

My personal crusade against the "minimized keyboard accessory" control for iPadOS continues.

Today's example: I wanted to create a new folder in the Notes app, but I couldn't because that thing was covering the button. 😔

Of all the criticisms out there about Mastodon, some deserved, some not, the most valid of them is the lack of search. It’s such a crappy decision and worse experience, with daily impact, I sometimes feel foolish defending the entire platform. That I have to still search the hellsite for news, after nearly a year here is inexcusable. And please don’t waste my time telling me about #hashtags. I’m aware. They were designed to be used within searches, not replace them.
