You may recall cDc from such hits as Mudge Zatko's creation of fast-track DARPA cyber grants, the creation of Veracode, Back Orifice and the word hacktivism itself.
The leader of this effort is Chris Rioux, aka Dildog, former L0pht member, co-founder of Veracode, and lead author of Back Orifice 2000, released at Def Con in 1999. Please read and share, and I'll see you in Vegas.

@JosephMenn Oh, this is a nice background on the project.

It's always good to see the available universe of secure, decentralized, peer-to-peer tech expand.

@JosephMenn A few technical details, for anyone else who's wondering: https://forum.defcon.org/node/246124.

Written in Rust, runs on all major desktop and mobile platforms + WASM. No blockchain.

@isaaclyman I think you mean no goddam blockchain.
@JosephMenn That's exactly what I mean. Want to be my anger translator?
@JosephMenn One big question remaining in my mind: does #Veilid use quantum-safe cryptography? Is there even any such thing as a mature, quantum-safe encryption algorithm at present? Or is Veilid shipping with traditional encryption right at the historical moment when it's almost certain that prime-factor-based algorithms have an expiration date sometime in this century?

@JosephMenn The Veilid launch is August 11. I imagine quantum resistance will be top-of-mind for many attendees, so I fully expect the question will be answered then.

@JosephMenn Sounds like a response to the 'MOVEit' hack
