Can someone please explain to Albo and Ley that any "action on antisemitism" would have had zero effect on Daesh members. Daesh/IS aren't just antisemitic, they are fascists. They want to kill everyone.

Jews, Christians, Muslims who don't support them, everyone, because they're fascist Muslims.

The only acts that could have prevented the terrorist attack are stricter gun laws and security services that aren't completely feckless

I guess I'm not shocked that tourists are dying in the heat in Death Valley. After all, ill-prepared tourists end up dead in all sorts of wilderness situations. But this sentence really got my attention:
"The extreme heat in the valley has made rescuing visitors difficult. Heat causes air to thin and the park service says often helicopters cannot be deployed."
The systems that would normally rescue you when you get into trouble can no longer be relied on...

Man dies in Death Valley as California national park swelters in extreme heat

High temperature ‘may have been a factor’ in death of 71-year-old Steve Curry in Golden Canyon area, park officials say

The Guardian

OFFICER: The victims were dismembered and sacrificed on an altar made of antlers

DETECTIVE: Dear god

OFFICER: Most likely yes

I'm torn on this one. Personally, I don't see the reason to approve a single new gas or coal mine, so I'm with Bandt on that.

But he does seem to have got himself wedged.

He is, for better or worse, a politician, and if he wants to achieve outcomes, he needs to achieve them politically, and sometimes that involves compromise on principles - letting good succeed where perfect will fail, so that progress towards perfect can continue, instead of stalling waiting for an opportunity for perfect.

So Australia's now got a supermarket duopoly. Coles and Woolies, with IGA, Aldi and Costco fighting over the crumbs.

In turn, this has given the big two the market power to squeeze supply chains, including farmers, workers, and suppliers. In many product categories, the big supermarkets now only stock their store brand and one other brand.

It didn't have to turn out this way. We used to have many grocery store chains in this country. But for the most part, the toothless ACCC just waived through the takeovers by the big supermarket chains.

Among many others, there used to be:

Who's interests have really been served by this consolidation?

And, unlike the EU or the US, we don't have a regulator with strong anti-trust powers to break up the big two. Is it time for a rethink?

Today is the Day of Remembrance for the Japanese American community. 81 years ago today, when I was just a boy of four, FDR signed Executive Order 9066, setting in motion the evacuation of people of Japanese descent from the West Coast and our long years of internment inside ten barbed wire prison camps.

We must never let such a thing happen again in America, and and we must strive everywhere to prevent the forced relocation and mass incarceration of innocent people. #NeverForget #NeverAgain

Had a bittersweet #aviation moment today. Was flying to Rochelle, IL (KRPJ) for breakfast. In route found out the winds were too high so I diverted to Madison (KMSN) to have breakfast at The Jet Room. Got to park right out in front of the restaurant.

After I was seated, I heard a kid behind me get all excited that the #pilot who had just landed was sitting near them in the restaurant. But then I heard them ask their mom "Girls can fly airplanes too?".

While I was thrilled the just my simple visibility caused so much excitement for this child, I was also sad. It's depressing that thanks to only 7% of pilots being female, this kid didn't even know it was a possibility. Well, one life changed for the better, I hope.
