Apollo 17 at Shorty Crater
In 1972, Apollo 17's Cernan and Schmitt explored the #Moon's Taurus-Littrow valley for 75 hours. This photo shows Schmitt by the rover near where he found orange soil. They returned with a record 110 kg of samples and remain the last to walk on the Moon.

Orion and the Ocean of Storms
Orion spacecraft captured the #Moon's Oceanus Procellarum with its solar array in view. The image shows the #lunar terminator and craters Marius and Kepler. After this flyby, Orion completed Artemis 1 by splashing down on #Earth on Dec 11, 2022.
