It's after 11pm as I walk Sandy the deaf BC along the lane; the soft hills and scarcely-budded trees are inky black against the pale glow of the sky.
No night hits quite as hard as a Cascadian dusk where the fog rolls in, the salty mist ruffles your jacket in the wind, and a light shines forth that may as well be from the Flying Dutchman himself.
