And now it looks like this. Free hand sawing the excess LNB did not make it look particularly good.
Now I just need to verify it's performance.
At some point in time, this satellite TV LNB cost 100 Finnish Markka's (FIM).
Now it is dead scrap and becomes a WR-75 waveguide to SMA adapter.
I understand quote posting is coming to Mastodon, and when the functionality arrives I will probably use it BUT I want to be clear to everyone that when I am quoting someone else's post I am not doing to dunk but simply because I want to make my comment more generally available. If I see people use my quote as an invitation to be shitty to the person I'm quoting, I'll likely block them for it. Please never be an asshole on my behalf. Thank you in advance for honoring my wishes.
A very unusual day on 1296MHz.
I am using the IC-9700 barefoot with a vertical monoband antenna.
10 different beacons heard: SP,OZ,DL,SM1, LA.
Worked ODX: DC7QH in Berlin, 350km with FM. Fun fact: He had to turn his antenna 180 deg. away from me.
Got FT8 up and running with the radio.
Reported stations from:
OZ, SM, LA, DL, SP, LY, UA2, UW (Ukraine) and more.
A spectacular day on 1296.
Would have been even greater with horizontal antennas.
Went to VHF day not too far from me yesterday.
Found a scanner and asked a price.
He said no guarantee that it works, but approx. $3.
I risked it, it could be a brick.
Tested with battery, nothing, then with external 12V. Dorrect display.
found the manual, so I could program frfequencies for scanning.
Tried 1297.500.
Audio feedback, so it works.
Still need to test sensitivity, but for $3, it's a bargain.
Flea markets can be fun.
