Happy #InternationalAsexualityDay to us Aces!

A year ago I took these macros of moss I found on a rock, which I recovered from the unseen depths of my HD for #Mosstodon
Plants against a sahara dust #sunset. Second half of the heap. #macro #photography
Color selective reflection from a damselfly wing.
I found a pair of shed wings last summer, along a river where I was camping for a while. Have no idea how they got there (molting? A picky fish spit them out?). We don't know how or why the iridescent colors are generated (but a combination of wax nanocrystal that grow on the epidermis and layering of high-low melamine epithelial cells are big factors)

Plants are hairy too

Trichomes of radicchio (a red bitter type salad common here in Italy) visible at the cell detail.

I'm so happy I got a pretty sharp pic even with my janky setup, in one of the photos the vacuoles with high anthocyanin (purple colour) content look pretty good!

Trippy trippy snow

Could spend hours getting different lightings and angles of the same few crystals, if it wasn't for the biting cold

Lichen I (Part Two)

Grabbed the tripod for more control. Turns out we have all these little alien worlds around us!

Microphotograph of the (likely) last moth of the season

(No moth was harmed ofc)

Sedum dasyphyllum is a common succulent plant that grows among rocks and bricks around here. It's the type of ubiquitous plant you don't really notice, it becomes part of the background scenery . At first I didn't even realise that these cute flowers growing in bunches on long and thin stems belonged to the same plant.

Under the right lens they are a lot less boring than what I initially thought
