Nora Raty left the PWHPA board last spring to join the #PHF under a six figure salary. The iconic goalie wasn’t drafted and says she felt the decision made her unwelcome in the #PWHL based on things she heard around the new league.

Today the #PWHL is announcing the venues for teams. It is likely to be: Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, New York, and Minnesota. Teams can sign 3 players before the draft. The draft supposedly starts on September 18. Players were reportedly notified of this yesterday.

There will only be 3 roster spots available to players not drafted or signed before the draft.

This really does seem like the current PWHPA. They just spent a few months figuring out where the static venues should be.

Trivial things we do not know about the PWHL 3 months before they supposedly start playing:

1. Priority signings
2. Coaches
3. Team namez
4. Team cities
5. Rinks they will be playing in

This seems a LOT like they bought the PHF without ever having made any plan for what they were going to do if they did.

Rather, they were only planning on barnstorming every year with the same national-team exclusive rosters they always do with no permanent cities to play in.

The PWHL/PWHPA is expected to announce the six markets their teams will play in this week. 3 Canadian. 3 American.

They’re expected to dump all the PHL team names, including: Boston because they didn’t like the “double entendre” in the term “Pride” 😬 and Minnesota, despite the team being the longest running franchise in pro women’s hockey and 1 year away from their 20th season.
