For a perfect encapsulation of the spirit and aesthetics of the historical moment the US is experiencing, check out this video!

Social and climate breakdown, all turned into a betting opportunity, rendered through AI slop. A real commercial, produced for cheap, but aired for big money on TV during a prime sports event.

Surround might be the most exciting #KineticFont out of the four proof of concepts by @simontruffer
Also the physical knob and slider to manipulate the #VariableFont
Here is another one from the same event. You can hear me talking broken English.
But also can get a view on the uMixa version 2 prototype and a listen to the new FM-sounds of the Photonotron.

noisio got some free free product placement in this kinda viral going video from a David Hilowitz finding an old Hohner guitar and bring it to the US.

I am mildly amused by his American view on Europe. It was a nice and fun talk with him and many others at the Klunkerkranitsch :D

Feedback looper pedal known as RDRPT is now out!

Here's a video about the design process behind it. I'll add a more detailed tech writeup later. But the schematic is already there.

Der Künstler heißt Julius von Bismarck.
Die Kunstinstallation wurde dieses Jahr im Sprengel Museum installiert.

just gonna post one more...

This is what I've been up to for the past months. RDRPT is a feedback looper, inspired by no-input mixing techniques and harsh noise. It's intense, chaotic and unforgiving. I enjoy it a lot.

How it was designed, schematics etc come out tomorrow on https://gnd.buzz

For now just wanted to share the looks 🖤

@festal I genuinely don't understand why anyone would be proud of having done this? Shallowness from top to bottom. Is it me that has a screw loose or them?

@smilingdemon It's an ad, so shallowness comes with the territory. But look what it tells you: "The world's done mad. Trade it" It's literally profit from other people's disaster. Through AI.

It's not only shallow, but deeply negative along all metrics except profit.

@festal Sure but there are degrees of shallowness, there have been ads out there that are genuinely impressive little bits of film making (even if they are ultimately to sell you something), this is not that. There are things which are arguably good (or at least neutral) which have adverts, this is not that. I don't understand why anyone would be proud of it. Done relatively little work to recommend, as you say, profit from other people's disaster, what is it this guy is proud of?

@smilingdemon

Are you so unwilling to believe that other people have other, or no, concern for things you and I and we probably share?

I know this sounds cruel, but is this your first encounter with people's ideas that are utterly alien and probably just harmful and indifferent? They've been out there in the world for millennia. And worse, sadists that enjoy others' pain.

I find it hard to believe this is your first encounter. So why the performed disbelief?

@festal

@tomjennings @festal there is a difference between surprise (which don't I have, I am not surprised people like this exist as, as you say, they pop up all the time) and a lack of understanding what they actually get out of it.

@festal

I'd buy that for a dollar!

@festal

I guess we should not be surprised. Nothing here is out of line with what we already knew.

Maybe a positive is, wildcats like him will ruin mega advert corps. But then of course he becomes one, then the others...

I've already stepped into my own defense mechanism: if the image moves, turn it off. Obv I watched your post, but I read your name and text first. And I'm ok with removing images in general that are not stored on the named site or container.

The Internet is not only not our friend, it's become.... I dunno.

@tomjennings I agree, I was wondering if I should propagate that, but then again, it's really a revealing piece. Not of anything we haven't known, but in such a condensed way. Like unfiltered collective subconscious.

I agree even more with defense mechanisms. TLDR is part of mine. Not that it was planned like that, but turned out like that, for now

@festal

I think it was good to post it in a critical context, which this is. There's so many ways to view it. I find myself not annoyed with that guy who made it; his logic is all too understandable. I suspect face to face I'd find him horribly annoying. But who knows.

What he's done is "obvious", in that it was certain to fall out of this moment. Better to see it here and in this way than any other context I can think of.

@festal

Oh, TLDR is absolutely my main source of social interaction online. I don't have another. Not using any corporate shit, other than occasional 'mandatory' clicks on peoples' posted links.

And thanks for making is so lovely!
