A human, I think. Grappling with my flaws and shortcomings, and those of the other co-inhabitants of this planet. #Networking and #InfoSec iconoclast, from what I can tell. Aficionado of #IPv6, #DNS and #DNSSEC, #FreeBSD, and #Python. #FOSS contributor at the fringes, mostly to packaging. Biking, travel, and craft cocktails. #RuleOfLaw

@nixCraft Sometimes, I write it in an editor and separately do something to run it. Other times, I write it one or a few lines at a time, run a little more, and do it again.

Virgin Media users have waited 15 years for IPv6. In that time:

* World IPv6 Day (2011) & World IPv6 Launch (2012) happened
* Apple launched the iPad... first generation. Since then there has been 10 more.
* Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11 came out
* Game of Thrones aired… and ended
* We had three Spider‑Men
* The entire Infinity Saga of the MCU began and concluded
* The UK had five Prime Ministers

Still no native IPv6. 🫠 #IPv6 #VirginMedia

It’s time for Virgin Media to deploy IPv6!

Have Virgin Media deployed IPv6 yet?
The email validation message finally came in over an hour later. I _think_ the form submission succeeded.
Does anybody within the sound of my voice have contacts with The Satanic Temple? I'm trying to submit their web contact form about a possible security incident and the email address validation function is INOP.

Ex-farm worker here.

We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.

Not true AT ALL.

Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.

The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.

At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.

I'm frequently despondent when I see organizations remove or hide once public Internet operational status and trending data.

At one time, lots of networks used to publish a variety of status and traffic summaries. The non-profit Internet2 for example was exemplary in this regard. Cloudflare, a commercial organization, now provides far more public benefit data than they do.

A big loss earlier this year was the once public Equinix network status page - https://community.equinix.com/blog/videostutorials/introducing-equinix-status/519

As the Internet becomes increasingly complex and inconsistency abounds, having access to trends and data from diverse vantage points is as important as ever, but unfortunately increasingly difficult to get.

Starting today you can check the status of your network products on the new Equinix Status page.  - 519

General reminder:

The domain name putty.org is *NOT* run by the #PuTTY developers. It is run by somebody not associated with us, who uses the domain to interpose advertising for their unrelated commercial products. We do not endorse those products in any way, and we have never given any kind of agreement for PuTTY's name to be used in promoting them.

Please do not perpetuate the claim that putty.org is the PuTTY website. If anyone is linking to it on that basis, please change the link. The PuTTY website is https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ and it always has been.

You can check this by downloading the source code, which cites that URL in many places (the README, the documentation, some strings in the actual code), or by using the "Visit Web Site" menu options in the official Windows binaries (the ones signed with my personal Authenticode certificate). The true PuTTY website is the one that PuTTY itself says it is.

Many search engines list putty.org above chiark. I don't know if this is due to active SEO on the part of the domain owner, or a heuristic in the rankings. Either way, don't believe them. It's not our site.

@Lana And for that matter, does a drawer count as a "shelf"? I mean, I might be Private Diane Bottom or Private Katherine Middle.
@Lana Does that means I am a Katherine or a Diane?
If anyone in Britain is in the market for an ungendered, nonbinary-compatible marriage ceremony and paperwork, the Quaker marriage vows and marriage certificate do not require use of gendered terms such as “husband” and “wife”, and the latest version of the vows (2015) even allows for avoiding gendered pronouns:
