Good morning, friends! This time of year, the sunrise looks so, so good in our backyard: the trees stark and bare, the colors rich. Here's a bit of the afterglow (timing is everything, and the minutes it took me to grab my phone upstairs and rush outside was enough to reduce the colors, but I still think it's rather nice).

I know CWs can be jarring at first - I thought they were over the top to begin with. It's a big part of how we extend consideration to each other here and demonstrate respect though.

If you feel like you don't care, you can turn them off for you under settings, so you never have to click on them. It's a really helpful for many though, especially the people who built this place, so please CW your own posts if you can. Thanks!

Isn't it kinda weird that #Mastodon gets described as 'left-leaning' because we handle more strickt rules and don't tolerate things like bullying.. It could be me but I perceive this as 'normal'.

I mean you don't call people all kinds of names in a conversation on the street or in the store right? Even if you don't agree🤔

Somehow it feels the (online) standards for treating each other have declined so much over the past few years

yesterday I posted an #introduction post asking if there were any #telemark skiers in the fediverse, and so far I only found two (2).

Tele #skiing is a small community... but not *that* small. There must be more than two!

Really important thing you need to know about Mastodon: You don't need to use the official app!

There are some good third party apps listed on Mastodon's own site:

The third party apps have more features and had way more development time.
