AI Written, AI Read cartoon - Marketoonist | Tom Fishburne

One piece of slang that has long embodied the short attention span Internet age is TL;DR, short for ā€œtoo long; didn’t read.ā€ With the explosion of generative AI tools, we’re rapidly entering the age of TL;DW: ā€œtoo long, didn’t write.ā€ A January survey from Fishbowl found that 40% of nearly 12,000 workers have used ChatGPT

Marketoonist | Tom Fishburne - Marketoonist is the thought bubble of Tom Fishburne. Marketing cartoons, content marketing with a sense of humor, keynote speaking.

Many scholars are leaving Twitter for #Mastodon, a public, decentralized alternative, impervious to private take-over:

Scholarly organizations are already supporting this migration:

and

There are analogous solutions for another public good in private hands: journals. There are even levers the scholarly community could pull to incentivize an analogous migration:

What are we waiting for?

As Musk reshapes Twitter, academics ponder taking flight

Many researchers are setting up profiles on social media site Mastodon

He talked about electric cars. I don't know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Then he talked about rockets. I don't know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software & Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I've ever heard anyone say, so when people say he's a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets.

Moby and Jim Carrey left Twitter yesterday .. Big peeps can you help them find their way here?

If you have just made the leap to #Mastodon from the birdsite, then WELCOME!

I sincerely hope that you are finding it an enjoyable and welcoming place.

If it might be of use to you, I've put together a #MastodonFAQ post as a kind of #introduction to Mastodon land and how to find your way around.

Hope it's useful, and please let me know of any questions you'd like to see added!

As everybody arrives, can I please remind you to share (boost, not fav) the things you love, and try to do a lot of sharing in the early days especially. You know how hard it is to find people, you’re doing it right now, so when you manage it, pls share with the rest of us.

Watercolor artists out there: what is it about Arches paper that my dog is so obsessed with?? Every time I take it out, she practically begs for it like I’m holding a steak!

Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing the creator of Mastodon, Eugen Rochko (@Gargron). We talked about how crazy the past few weeks have been, why the site was built to resist the kind of takeover that Twitter has seen, and what he makes of Elon's tweet poking fun at Mastodon: https://www.wired.com/story/the-man-behind-mastodon-eugen-rochko-built-it-for-this-moment/

The Man Behind Mastodon, Eugen Rochko, Built It for This Moment

People fleeing Twitter have turned to Eugen Rochko’s alternative. He says social networks can support healthy debate—without any one person in control.

#introduction yes, I’m part of the great Twitter exodus. Years ago, I deleted my Facebook account to get away from its toxic design and now I’m skeptical of all social networking sites. However, Mastodon gives me hope. After exploring this platform and reading about its careful design, I’m grateful to have found a social networking site that addresses these issues head on. Looking forward to meeting web devs and artists, sharing my projects, and having a good time.
