Is This the Miracle? - Nate's Notes

On Friday afternoon, while driving to pick up my son from school, I started noticing a somewhat familiar sound from my truck — that is, if you’ve

Because I may be watching a few different series at the same time, and I can't remember which streaming service they're on, I've started a #PKM note in #obsidian to track the name of the show/series/movie, what service it's on (with a link, if I can get one), and notes about what Season or Episode I'm on (especially if I'm waiting on a new Season). #ObsidianMD

In #ObsidianMD, I like to have a note for various words/terms, especially if it is easily confused with another word (e.g., ingenious and ingenuous).

In my #obsidian note, I try to start with the root noun, then list any related alternate forms (adjectives, adverbs, etc.), as well as the origin and any notes on Usage (callout). And, of course, the backlinks from other notes (not shown in the screenshot).

Niche Nate: I am fascinated by (and often easily annoyed by) #fonts

- For digital, I prefer sans-serif fonts (serif is OK on printed materials)

- Even with sans-serif fonts, I prefer a "serif I" — I keep a document of "serif I" fonts I come across (screenshot)

- I am constantly taking notes — #ObsidianMD — both personal & professional, both for myself & for others, and I want them to be easily legible. I don't like confusion between a "capital I," a "lowercase l," and a "number 1" 😑

In #ObsidianMD, I’ve been thinking about how to reference books in notes.

I create a note for each book, & then create atomic notes based on info from the book.

I thought I would create a footnote entry on each book note, perhaps as an H6, so I could transclude that footnote in the atomic note.

But I don’t think I’ve got it quite figured out…

Here’s an example from the New Oxford American Dictionary’s book note.

Then transcluding it as a footnote on the atomic note for “truncheon.”

Ideas?

Zoey 🐶 enjoyed the snow ❄️ this morning! 😄

Sometimes there's just something magical 🪄 about the plain saltine/soda cracker.

(This is a health reference, not a religious reference.)

My mom has a strong daily habit of recording in her daily #journal / #scrapbook / #commonplacebook . My sister sent her a bunch of stuff for recent birthday, and this mom’s entry — shipping labels (redacted here by me), parts of packaging labels, a tracing of the scissors, etc. And, of course, the date and her verses for the day. And she still has such beautiful handwriting! ✍️
