One sleepless night, it came to me how to better convey what's going on with the battles - and the idea was quite simple: make some windows have a "defocused" state.

I will not lie: the project is kind of frozen, since I'm taking care of my baby and busy, studying for $DAYJOB stuff

But I'm quite happy with the effect - not that I don't want to add some more animations, to better explain what's going on.

Finally some progress!
But still no Wifi

Decided to give #FreeBSD a try, after having #NetBSD as a daily driver in my old (and defunct) #netbook

The onboarding experience is certainly far from what you get in modern #Linux and just a tad above what I got with the minimalist install for NetBSD.

Pictured is my #RaspberryPi 4 encased in a #JoyPi Note 1.

I had to borrow the ethernet cable from the Vodafone STB, so I can install the required stuff for Wifi (sure, I could do it by hand, but meh).

Might do some #Mesa3D hacking on that :)

I must admit that the Jetbrains UX is much superior (coming from someone who paid for Clion over the last 10 years), but Android Studio can be quite lame sometimes...

On a whim, decided to reduce the resolution of the Amiga CD32 port to the same as the GBA (240x160) and surprisingly, the system scaled it to a much better size!

If I try 160x100, the speed is much better, but this scaling won't happen.

While it's still not amazing, the speed improved dramatically - almost playable I would say.

Ah yes, the colours: I had to reduce from 256 to 32, but I'm working on improving this.

Yeah, Quake is very good looking, but man, check this out!
Mind you, Doom "x86" was no slouch either.
It's crazy how good the Doom 64 texturing work is. I even suspect the geometry is simpler than the "x86" regular Doom, but looks leagues ahead.

A bit cramped, but it makes the flow of the battle much clearer now. The messages will be improved, of course!

All names, graphics and moves are placeholders.

I have to admit that even for me, it was hard to follow the battles sometimes and I had to employ breakpoints to better understand what was going on.

That laser was a simple addition, but it really game a motivation boost. A simple idea but really aligns with what I want to achieve.

The fact that it is a real 3D polygon and gets shifted by the camera as it moves to focus on the current enemy really sells the idea that someone is shooting
