It boggles the mind how people can seriously believe a pet housecat can survive in the wild for extended periods of time, and not suffer tremendously and then perish.

  • It takes a lot of mice and critters to hunt in order to get sufficient nourishment. Somewhere I heard a stray/feral cat needs 8-15 mice a day, depending on sex and size. (!!)

  • They get sick easily, living in the outside elements, having no good shelter.

  • There are predators out to get them (coyotes in your country, for example).

  • And I am not even talking about the mental anguish for the poor cat ...

PSA: Do not abandon your cats in the wild! Find other, compassionate ways to rehome them!

Mass Effect: A Tale of Two Normandy

Dear Patreon subscribers, like every Friday, it's "The Spaceshipper Friday", and yesterday was N7 Day, so here's the story behind the creation of both versions of the Normandy!

Work meeting today had to discuss some risks about the incoming administration. We were figuring out how much we push forward with what should be done versus holding back to mitigate potential blowback. I drew a line I expect to repeat in the coming years:

We don't do the fascists' work for them.

We pursue our goals, rendering public service per our charter. If they complain or order or decree otherwise, we deal with that when it comes. But we don’t self-censor.

“A second Trump presidency is game over for meaningful climate action this decade, and stabilizing warming below 1.5C probably becomes impossible.”
