My #Wikipedia request for comment just closed, finally banning #AI content in articles! "The use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited"

Kudos to all who participated in writing the guideline (especially Kowal2701) and the whole WikiProject AI Cleanup team, this was very much a group effort!

I’d like to have as many folks vote on this as possible, given the nature of the topic (i.e., copyright). If you keep in touch with any “old timers,” let them know I’d love to have their approval. Spread the word!

Before AI, I felt like I could review PRs and, based on whose code I was reviewing, I could be more trusting and casual with my review, since I knew they usually wrote good code and paid attention to details. Now, with AI, no one pays attention to details, so I have to deeply scrutinize every PR, which takes twice or 3x the effort.

AI agents almost always add things that aren’t necessary, or they follow anti-patterns based on the surrounding legacy code context.

Big Tech is at it again.

Some of you might have seen this already. Google has announced a new policy for Android app developers, which would require them to seek Google’s permission if they want to distribute their apps outside of the Google Play Store (on their own website or on alternative app stores). This would entail:

1) agreeing to their terms and conditions
2) paying a fee
3) uploading a government ID

Which is wrong on so many levels. Nobody should be forced to register with Google if they don’t want to use their services.

In doing so they would be extending their gatekeeping (tentacles) into distribution channels where they’re just not a legitimate authority.

At Vivaldi, we believe you have the right to run whatever software you want on a device you own. That’s why we’ve co-signed this open letter, together with other 53 organisations, requesting Google to back off on the proposed policy before it enters into force.

(Plus, they have have a pretty cool logo 😄)

Guten Morgen! ☕
Error identifiers documentation is finally useful! Take a while and browse everything PHPStan can report: https://phpstan.org/error-identifiers

For the longest time I was bothered that “Documentation” link on phpstan.org led directly to “Getting Started” page, and that some really useful docs pages weren’t discoverable at all.

That changes today. Documentation now has a dashboard with boxes describing what use-case/problem the linked page solves.

Ansonsten teilt, shared, boosted was das Zeugs hält. Alle Peeps sollen davon erfahren. 😀
