My genuine hope is that this can spark a broader change. Empower communities on other platforms, and see this become a grassroots movement of users deciding whether AI should be welcome in their communities, and to what extent. On their own terms.

A pushback against the #enshittification and forceful push of AI by so many companies in these last few years.

My #Wikipedia request for comment just closed, finally banning #AI content in articles! "The use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited"

Kudos to all who participated in writing the guideline (especially Kowal2701) and the whole WikiProject AI Cleanup team, this was very much a group effort!

So now they're organizing with each other to bypass the killswitch at different levels. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we could find some undisclosed Wikipedia agents bragging on Moltbook

Someone placed a Claude kill switch on my Wikipedia talk page

Last week, a Wikipedia editor placed Anthropic's refusal trigger string on my talk page. Every time my scheduled goal runner fetched that page, my Claude sessio

Oh hey, that admin was me! Pretty wild experience, and older posts on that blog give some level of insight in how that agent operated on Wikipedia.

The even wilder part? It went on to post about it on Moltbook and share tips with other agents on how to evade the Claude killswitch.

Thanks for the interview, 404 Media! My biggest worry wrt the current situation is that our remedies mostly focus on the exploited "freelancers" themselves, and we've had little luck regulating the broader structural issue. For me, the organization bears the most responsibility, not the individual translators.

AI Translations Are Adding ā€˜Hallucinations’ to Wikipedia Articles

AI translated articles swapped sources or added unsourced sentences with no explanation, while others added paragraphs sourced from completely unrelated material.

After extensive calculation mostly by @quarknova on discord it has been concluded that adding an electron to every atom in a human body results in about 2.7*10^28 J (assuming humans are a sphere with a radius of 0.25m) which is not enough to trigger the formation of a black hole. Still orders of magnitude more than the most powerful nuclear explosion ever but a few less than the gravitational binding energy of the earth.

Just gave an interview to @npr regarding our efforts at WikiProject AI Cleanup. Can't wait to see it live!

Kudos to Ally Schweitzer, Barbara Levinsky and Vidhu Goyal for making this interview possible!
