By day I'm a software developer working from a secret location near Melbourne, Australia. Currently a member of the ASP.NET Core team at Microsoft. Previously worked on Azure DevOps, Azure SDK and Azure Managed Grafana.

By night I'm a space pirate harvesting salt from care bears in Star Citizen.

At any time of day, I'm a husband, father of two humans and two ninja cats.

I've just had two NVMe drives fail in 2 weeks. I'm starting to the see the argument for cloud hosted dev workstations.

@web_goddess I have been hoping for a similar outcome for the Australian #Voice referendum as for the gay marriage plebiscite (that was predicted to fail but was then resoundingly supported; and joyously so) .

However, the increasing meaness, apathy and stone-heartedness that Australians of settler heritage have shown towards #Australias1StNationPeople demonstrate that Australia is a deeply divided and by+large racist country.

Either that or the #Indigenouspeople who make up 3% of this nation are so invisible, so misrepresented historically and so misunderstood, that the other 97% just DO NOT CARE what happens to them bc they're not even on their radar..

Either way it's heartbreakingly sad.
How the hell are #aboriginal communities supposed to feel if #Notovoice succeeds and they know that over half of #Australia has just written them off as unworthy of a #voice

How are they supposed to be "well" with that ?

Getting better experienced-based advice from local, rural & remote Indigenous Australians will reduce waste from programs that were well-intentioned, but lacking in expertise. That's why I will #VoteYes on Saturday.

If you are an Australian of voting age, please #VoteYes in the upcoming referendum on #thevoice

The Australian jurisdiction with the highest proportion of Indigenous people is the Northern Territory.

Coincidentally, the NT doesn't count toward the "majority of states" part of the double majority required for a #referendum to pass.

To me, this does not seem fair, and seems like another example of White Australia imposing its will on First Nations people.

This is just one of the many reasons that I'll be voting #yes on Saturday. #Voice does not affect me. Voice will probably not affect me as a white middle aged male. Hell, it may well be completely ineffective. But I don't want to be spending the next 25+ years listening to conservatives yelling "Australians don't want indigenous representation" and "Australians already dealt with that issue" at every opportunity like they currently do with the republic movement.

#auspol #VoteYes

Means it can go both ways
I was at the airport yesterday and received a text message from DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade). Getting an automated text message whilst at the airport isn’t new. In fact I got one from Telstra too telling me about overseas call charges etc. What piqued my interest was that DFAT had somehow got a feed on what cell tower I was connected to. Im not sure how I feel about DFAT having casual access to the phone numbers who come within the vicinity of the phone towers that cover the airport.
