no borders, no bosses, no cops!

@rechelon Yeah, in some ways this seems like a cultural shift away from (surveillable, old-fashioned) physical organizing spaces and towards the web as the Place Where You Learn About Things. Certainly infoshops' primary goal is now fulfilled by the internet -- I can read so many pamphlets on the Anarchist Library!

But you lose out on some squishy factors that are actually quite useful for organizing. For example seeing the same faces over and over again gives people a deeper connection to their local community, plus knowing who people are (even by a pseudonym) lets you keep track of social reputation in ways that online spaces don't.

@rechelon well, that sucks. I wasn't expecting Portland to have fewer healthy infoshops/community spaces than my small town.

To Black Water I go, I guess...

@rechelon I happen to be in Portland for the day, and I was hoping to do some anarcho-tourism. I was surprised/baffled at the lack of anarchist community spaces I could find with a quick search.

Is Anarres still around? Is there anywhere else?

Regular reminder that there are billions of people alive right now, and every single one of them matters. I don't just mean this in a moral sense, I mean this in a practical sense.

Any one of us might end up doing something that causes significant change or prevents something really bad.

Ok, so here's a compromise halfway between what we have now and the moral position, copyright abolition:

For every fake DMCA takedown by the Copyright Cartel (or abusive ex's, or literal fascists), it should be legal to murder one IP lawyer or Copyright Cartel executive.

#copyright #dmcaabuse #copyrightAbolition

All Gods Are Bastards, all gods are cops, all Kings are imitations of gods. You can't fight against the real, mortal authorities if you're incapable of fighting the immaterial, immortal ones.
@steve @briankrebs wow, is this real? for me the name just can't be resolved at all.
In a sense, transhumanism is the ultimate denial of human nature, because according to it, even things like our biology or genetic code are malleable and are not a fixed human nature in the philosophical sense. Your genome codes for blonde hair? Not anymore it doesn't. You're a transgender woman but you have XY chromosomes? Nothing a little CRISPR can't fix. The existing gender-affirming surgeries can't accommodate your nonbinary identity?

The new Deputy Director of the FBI, Bongino, said that Trump should do like "The Dark Knight Rises", and “set up a courtroom” in the White House and “just start making judicial decisions.”

This is why I'm constantly going on about the need to think critically about how even .01% of the population will react to media with a power fantasy in it, no matter how narratively disparaged. Doesn't matter if it was a critique of the left/jacobins, every latent fascist sees this shit and just goes WANT!!!
