Anarchist "exuberant." Really into exploring the roots of things and expanding degrees of freedom. Incurable moralist. Floating metal sphere. “Radically uncool.”

CW: entire feed is political, I will mention the existence of things like cops and rapists without burying it beneath a CW, but will provide warnings for in-depth descriptions of violence, trauma, etc.

New: Google has quietly been offering to buy access to code written by developers who have released Android apps on the Play Store in order to help the company train its AI coding tools. Email offers chance to “join a confidential content offer pilot.”

Where the fuck did this 'generic skull tattoo' phrasing I've been seeing everywhere for a few days come from? Is it from Platner's campaign? News orgs couching their language to avoid being sued for slander? I feel like I'm being gaslit at this point. It's a fucking totenkopf. It's extremely specific and means exactly one thing!

This is absolutely nuts: hackers are hijacking high-profile Instagram accounts by simply asking Meta's AI chatbot to change the email on the account. Meta's AI does it, hacker gets password reset code, they're in. A staggering security issue

Hackers Simply Asked Meta AI to Give Them Access to High-Profile Instagram Accounts. It Worked

The exploit shows the extreme risk of offloading technical support to AI.

I am extremely amused by this because a surprising amount of wingnuttery in left academia (and associated milieus of rich kids like Tiqqun) pulls from jewish mysticism and Scott is like "sure I'm a reactionary shitstain, but I love me some jewish mysticism"

Wow!

At last, a pill that can prevent COVID after exposure to infected people

Drug arrives years after pandemic’s peak, but could still offer protection to vulnerable populations.

One of the most obvious tells of millennials, for example, is our ubiquitous Simpsons references. It's simply not worth the time and energy of most younger folks to watch 30 hours (almost a full work week) of the first four seasons to learn the references that we all make all the time.
I also think this is insanely relevant to subcultural spaces, where critical important tacit knowledge and discursive history is shed off every four years with a new wave of youth. This is what's driving the popularity of slop leftism on instagram and lossy reductive shit like platformism.
One of my most recurring concerns is that accelerating media production has created a cultural situation where The Lore Is Too Damn High. The acquiring of cultural capital requires investment and there's too much to invest in these days with very low ROI, driving generational divergences.
If there was an earnest teenager who has not consumed any Old Media (music, movies, or tv released before 2022) but was looking on catching up on the most important cultural touchstones, and was willing to set aside a whole 10 hours from scrolling to do so. What playlist of films/tv/music would you create for them?
