no borders, no bosses, no cops!

Regular reminder that there are billions of people alive right now, and every single one of them matters. I don't just mean this in a moral sense, I mean this in a practical sense.

Any one of us might end up doing something that causes significant change or prevents something really bad.

Ok, so here's a compromise halfway between what we have now and the moral position, copyright abolition:

For every fake DMCA takedown by the Copyright Cartel (or abusive ex's, or literal fascists), it should be legal to murder one IP lawyer or Copyright Cartel executive.

#copyright #dmcaabuse #copyrightAbolition

All Gods Are Bastards, all gods are cops, all Kings are imitations of gods. You can't fight against the real, mortal authorities if you're incapable of fighting the immaterial, immortal ones.
In a sense, transhumanism is the ultimate denial of human nature, because according to it, even things like our biology or genetic code are malleable and are not a fixed human nature in the philosophical sense. Your genome codes for blonde hair? Not anymore it doesn't. You're a transgender woman but you have XY chromosomes? Nothing a little CRISPR can't fix. The existing gender-affirming surgeries can't accommodate your nonbinary identity?

The new Deputy Director of the FBI, Bongino, said that Trump should do like "The Dark Knight Rises", and “set up a courtroom” in the White House and “just start making judicial decisions.”

This is why I'm constantly going on about the need to think critically about how even .01% of the population will react to media with a power fantasy in it, no matter how narratively disparaged. Doesn't matter if it was a critique of the left/jacobins, every latent fascist sees this shit and just goes WANT!!!

re the zizian "death cult" thing:

My priors are that abuse is super common and my heuristics are that accusations are usually onto something so believe accusations of abuse. Thus when folks say that CFAR covered up widespread sexual abuse in rationalist circles, I'm like yeah, sure, makes total sense. And when folks say this Ziz person ran an abusive sleep deprivation cult, I'm like yeah, sure, makes total sense. That doesn't mean assigning absolute credence, but like, it's all a good bet.

@markwyner And you need to fight it out to be over.
Because, if like Spain, it ends because the dictator dies, the followers and ideas remain and even after 40 years of democracy they'll still be there

When you approach the world like you're inventing everything that matters from scratch all the time, you can sometimes get some novel insights, but at the cost of totally failing to apply them effectively because you immediately pratfall on something simple like turning on a light switch.

I firmly believe in individuals finding novel exploits, I believe in audacious investigation and novel invention, but like... you need a home base to return to and learn from.

I'm always on about how what the rationalist community is missing is the robust social norms of eg anarchism.

But another aspect is anarchism gives a sense of identity, commonality, and place, that's more historically sweeping. The rationalists are very big into feeling like they're inventing everything important on the spot from scratch. Whereas anarchism has two centuries of experience and experiment to pull from, and a wider sense of continuity with millennia of liberation struggles.
