Made the mistake of going into Cardiff on an event day. We could really do with a website that provides a simple list of places to avoid in #Cardiff and times when it is expected to be busy.

Key things: are the stations closed/restricted? Is Sloper Road closed for football? Is the centre of town likely to be full of day-drinkers?

"The Conservatives’ Natasha Asghar was last to the stage. Demonstrably shocked at retaining her seat, she grinned that she hadn’t written a speech but promised to ‘change Wales.’ Into what, we wondered."

Ben Wildsmith The places where our destiny is decided tend not to live up to their place in history. The last time I was at an election count, when Lindsey Whittle threw himself in front of the Reform UK hype train to the visible disappointment of the London press, it was in the homely environs […]

3) also, poor candidate vetting means that there will almost certainly be a number of scandals over Reform MSs, and potentially by-elections as a result. This may also affect Plaid though I think they’re more careful.
2) We know from considerable experience that Farage is not a team player and will attempt to eliminate anyone who steals his limelight. So Dan Thomas (leader of Reform in Wales) will either keep his head down and just appear occasionally alongside Farage at press events, or he’ll actually attempt to lead his party group and fall out with Farage as a result. The latter option probably results in a splintering of Reform Wales into another party.

A couple of quick predictions for how Reform will behave in the Senedd.

1) they’ll take the money. According to Will Hayward (local political journalist - https://willhaywardwales.substack.com/p/what-does-success-look-like-for-each ), the party gets paid £1.1m in state support because of the number of MSs they’ve had elected. This cash will almost certainly be sent for use on campaigns UK-wide.

What does success look like for each party?

We break down what a good and bad election result looks like for each party.
